tutti frutti

When I lived in London a while back I would often pop into the cutest little store in Fouberts Place, Lazy Oaf. Since then, their graphic prints and artful illustrations have always had a place in my heart.

I love their Spring/Summer 2012 collection…

Featuring pops of colour, overall flower prints and wacky fruits, it is sure to brighten your day and lighten your mood!

confetti love

Such shiny, frivolous wow from Confetti System !

lovely beast

I attended the ‘Beast in mind’ exhibition at Salon 91 last week.

I was instantly drawn to this piece by Elise Wessels, I had to have it! It is now mine and by next month it will be sitting proudly on my wall…

The line work and the colours are just beautiful!

Here is what Elise has to say about the exhibition, which also included work by the lovely Tamsin Relly.

“Beast in Mind, is an intuitive visual interpretation of the Shadow archetype, as defined by C.G. Jung. Jung proposed that the ‘Shadow’ may partially be linked to primordial and irrational animal instincts, and it is also seen to be the seat of creativity, which becomes my point of departure. This series is inspired by South African writers in whose lives and work it seems the Shadow played a significant role. I use hybrid forms as a means to simulate a visual – or actual – conversation between the psyche and animal archetypes. With Beast in Mind I hope to offer to the viewer a key to the intuitive language of the Shadow.” – Elise Wessels

paris

The wonderfully innovative design studio The President will be launching a brand new magazine at the end of March, entitled Paris - Fading like a childhood memory.

It will focus on design as well as lifestyles within the Southern Hemisphere and how it impacts the rest of the world, drawing attention to the amazing things happening down south!

I am so looking forward to see the lovely Kristian Matsson perform in Cape Town!

Not long to go! 10th of Feb! (and it is not on a school night…)

His melodies and lyrics are super beautiful…

Mesmerising Norse folk…

I love Scandinavian textile design and today I discovered this marvelous design by Linda Sjunnerson. “Inspired by the cocktail, the fresh, crisp and fruity colours combined with the strong graphic design create a joyful and exuberant textile.”

mini mimis

I discovered Mimi purses today, they are gorgeous! And named after me! (Ha, I wish!) Just about as English a label as they come, Mimi was founded in 2001 by London based designer Mimi Berry. So beautiful, so British!

sparkling sequin street art - oh yes!

How super beautiful is this sequin graffiti in Reykjavic by Danish artist Theresa Himmer?

I think someone should start this here in Cape Town, preferably on the wall of my apartment block!

arriba, arriba!

I came across this awesome post on a beautiful blog on how to make your own mini piñatas! I am super excited! Next time we have a Mexican evening, these cuties are coming out to play!
